Larry D. Gore was born on November 25, 1938, in St. Joseph, Missouri, and passed away on February 10, 2021, after battling COVID-19 for three weeks.  Larry is survived by his wife, Joan Gore, his three sons, and their wives, Brian and Stacy, Kevin and Shelly, Alan and Christie, his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Janet Gore, and ten grandchildren, Hunter, Spencer, Harrison, Payton, Abby, Emy, Braxton, Randy, Kylie, and McKenzie.

A Missouri native, Larry graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Missouri in 1961.  He moved to Texas in 1963, where he met his wife Joan and married in Ft. Worth, Texas, on June 20, 1964.  They lived in Ft. Worth, Austin, and Houston before settling in the Dallas area in 1976, living primarily in Highland Park and Plano.

Larry was very active in sports and coached all three sons in soccer, basketball, baseball, and other sports.  Known by the grandkids as Pepa, he loved watching all ten grandkids play their sports and was always interested in their school, work, and other activities. Larry was always willing to volunteer his time to his family, friends and to help others.

Larry will be remembered for many things, but he took up golf in his retirement years, and playing twice a week was the norm. Getting two holes-in-one was a golf highlight.  He played in many groups in the Plano area along with his close group, the Dirty Dozen.

Larry and Joan enjoyed traveling with friends and family.  Some of the more memorable stops are Alaska, National Parks, Canada, Greek Islands, Ireland, Scotland, and many European spots. Family get-togethers were always the best as family was their biggest blessing.

The Gore family would like to thank our friends for all the love, thoughts, and prayers over the last few weeks.   Any memorial gifts in Larry’s honor may be sent to the North Texas Food Bank.

Many of you have asked for details regarding a memorial service. We are still working out the details and are waiting for the weather to clear next week before making plans, so stay tuned on this website for more information to come in the next few days.
