Larry was diagnosed in 2013 with cardiomyopathy which severely compromised his heart's ability to pump blood to the rest of his body. Further complicating his situation was atrial fibrillation that was difficult to control, often times beating so fast (up to 160 beats per minute) that he would not be able to stand up or walk.

Despite multiple procedures and trials of different medications his condition worsened and 1 year ago he was told by his Cardiology team that his only hope would be a heart transplant.

Then, with no explanation, things started to improve. He was able to be more active , his heart rate was under control and he thought he might be able to live his life without a transplant.

But just as quickly as things got better the year before, in January of 2022 his heart took a turn for the worse.  He was no longer able to do the the things he loved: travel, watch his grandkids activities, golf or garden. Even the simple things it took to get through the day became almost impossible.

Larry's Cardiology team followed things closely and in April decided to repeat all of his testing to determine if it was time to talk about a transplant again.  It was. His numbers were dismal.

Within 1 week he was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for placement of an intra aortic balloon pump. Once the pump was in Larry moved to the top of the transplant list.

May 4th, 2022 Larry received the gift of life from someone he had never met and would never have an opportunity to thank.

Larry and his family thank you for the love, support, thoughts and prayers with every beat of his precious heart.
