I learned today that the AAUW Birmingham chapter had a successful networking meeting on Sunday and although I was not able to be there in person, I did have a part to play. My dear friend and long time member of AAUW Nancy Whitt shared with everyone the Chilton County peach story, and four of our sponsored delegates to NCCWSL (the national conference of college women Student Leaders) also spoke. This year the office of diversity helped to sponsor two rising juniors (1 black, 1 white). And the provosts' office paid for two others. Their stories are apparently very inspiring. They plan to start an e- affiliate chapter at no cost to the students right away.
