Landis Alvin Peters arrived 9:13 pm Wednesday, Aug 24. He weighed in at 8lbs 2 oz. I was induced because the fluid surrounding the baby was very low. Enroute to this world his heart stopped or very nearly did, but with shifting me around it started in strong again. We do not know at what time he inhaled his meconium (after all this time I don't know how to spell it!), but I've heard its usually from stress. so was it the low fluid? Was it the hard petocin contractions? We don't know and may never know. At any rate when he was born we were in the hospital as before we had planned to have a birthing center birth, God knew what would happen and made it happen that we would be in the hospital as the doctor gave us no choice where and said it would be that day yet. When he was born they layed him on my chest and he was gray folks and not making a sound and not breathing. About 5 secs later the room was aswarm with medical personel. Imagine my distress when I heard them say, "Stopped chest compressions such n such a time." It was thankfully because he was alive not dead! It is amazing to me to think that the pediatrician was just a few doors down when the call went out and was in there in seconds. He was taken out then and hooked up. Alvin went then after awhile to see him and they brought him to me in his rolling cart on his way out to the bus that would take him to Vanderbilt. He was awake and looking at me.. JP
