Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Monday, December 13 Laird was encouraged not to go home with hospice as planned. The doctors did not think he would survive the transport and our girls were still flying in.  I stayed over night and did not expect him to live as all his vital signs were slowing down. He woke up at 1:30:am and has rallied amazingly to all. He is home now with hospice and we are taking it day to day.

Early November we went to Princeton Seminary for a President’s Forum. Laird had some edema prior to leaving but really wanted to go. On Friday I noticed he was badly swollen with fluid and took him to the ER. Princeton Hospital transferred him to University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He developed a staph infection in his left shoulder and was transferred to Philadelphia Hospital for surgery. All this time I was trying to get him transferred to Grand Rapids where they knew him and would get better health from Spectrum Health. We finally were discharged and flew home on Friday, November 30. A week ago Monday we went to the cardiologist who immediately got him into Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids and the rest is history. Your response to his plight has been overwhelming and so supportive to both of us. Please spread the word that he is on Caring Bridge and to register. He is lairdstuart. Blessings. Gini
