Kristy Belcher Kristy’s Health Journey

First post: Jun 15, 2022 Latest post: Aug 21, 2022
After battling malignant melanoma in her 20’s and kidney cancer last year in 2021, it was unfortunately discovered in April 2022 that a tumor of a different type of malignancy was missed in Kristy’s pancreas, making this Kristy’s third battle with cancer. To clarify, this tumor is not pancreatic cancer, but is a neuroendocrine tumor requiring a very complex and difficult surgery called the Whipple procedure. This surgery will last approximately 6-8 hours and take place on July 18th in Charlotte, NC. They will be removing her gallbladder, her duodenum, which is the lower part of her stomach, and the cancer spot in the head of the pancreas. The recovery will be lengthy at an estimated 3-6 months of time, so your support is deeply appreciated. We are using this Caring Bridge page to keep family and friends updated in one place about Kristy’s progress during her cancer battle as she embarks on her 3rd journey down the road of cancer. We are so grateful for your support, help, and words of hope and encouragement. Our friend, Abi Gordon, has graciously offered to help oversee and facilitate all communications, fundraising management, Meal Train scheduling, and posting updates here on Caring Bridge about Kristy's status from us. Please pray for us as we begin another battle!
