Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Christmas of 2017, I thought I had gall stones...I was wrong.  I had cancer.  Not the Christmas present I was hoping for that night.   As one might imagine... it is impossible to imagine.  Unless you've walked the road, no movie, no novel, nothing can prepare you for the ER doctor to tell you that you have a mass 10x10x11 on your liver with multiple other masses there  as well and oh yea, your lungs too.  There is no breathing at that point.  Your body simply forgets what it is supposed to do.  In the following weeks we found out that it had a metastasized from the colon and I was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer.

We realize that the only thing keeping us from the brink of  insanity are the prayers and positivity from our family and friends. With the support of family and friends we find ourselves on this cold  January day starting chemotherapy at the James hooked up with lines and pumps shoving cancer killing drugs into my body.

Plan A is as follows...defeat this cancer banning it from my body forever.  There is no Plan B.

Mark and I will update this site as often as we can.  We only ask for you to pray for the miracle that this cancer is eradicated from my body.  Thank you in advance for including us in your prayers.

UPDATE....
Hi friends,

We are thankful for all of your love and help over the last months.   In the face of devastating news, the prayers, cards, and encouragement have been great medicine!  After living with cancer and having a few treatments, Mark and I have discussed ways that our friends can help the most.

As we look at what we really need, we find it is more TIME to be together.

Mark is spending quite a bit of time cleaning and disinfecting so I can live in a sanitary environment.  As you can imagine, we would rather spend that time together.  So one way you can help is to assist us in funding a cleaning service to come to the home to clean and sanitize it.

Another way people have said they would like to help is with meals.  Since I still feel able to cook most days, meals are not needed immediately.  That being said, no one should eat Mark's cooking all week, so when we can restaurant gift cards are helpful.  Columbus is always coming out with new restaurants and we have a limited knowledge of what is out there, but here are some places that we have liked in the past.

Amazon restaurants (for delivery)
Northstar
Cap City Diner
Hill's Market
Dewey's
Beer Kitchen 101
Pies and Pints
Max and Ermas

To donate to our fund there are two ways to do it.  Click on the “WAYS TO HELP” link above.

You can donate through PayPal which will directly go to our PayPal link.

Or, if you would like to send a donation through Zellepay, click on the link and it will instruct you how to transfer funds from your bank.  Most banks use Zellepay as a quick and immediate way of transferring funds. All you need is my name Kristy Shannon and our email address 4theshannons@gmail.com (mailto:4theshannons@gmail.com) (If you wouldn’t mind including your name in the memo section, that would help us to express our gratitude.)

We are set on warm socks, journals, coloring books, games books, and lotion.  Our friends have hooked us up!  We continue to love the encouraging cards, emails, magazines, and books to pass the time in the hospital!

With gratitude,

Kristy & Mark
