Kristi was experiencing numbness and pain in her lower calf for about a week prior to going to the St Cloud Hospital. On Saturday, September 12 she went to the ER, they admitted her. They tried a procedure to get a catheter through her leg, it was unsuccessful, so they put her on a 24 hour IV clot buster, blood thinner. Sunday morning she experienced a stroke with bleeding on the brain. She was quickly transferred to ICU and had immediate surgery to stop the bleeding on the brain and to remove part of her skull, to allow her brain to swell. After surgery she was in a coma and placed on a ventilator, the doctors didn’t give a lot of hope. They started preparing the family for the , “if she doesn’t wake up situation”. Anything from not surviving to being in a vegetative state but in perfect Kristi fashion, with all her spunk she exceeded all doctors, nurses and her families expectations on the first day! The swelling went down rather fast, she was able to get some testing done so they could understand the extent to her brain injuries better. She responded to commands, squeezed hands, moved all extremities, and opened her eyes! (Of course she did,, she’s Kristi). A GoFundMe account has been setup on Kristi’s behalf, if you want to help her financially.
