Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
In late October, the doctor found a spot of concern during my yearly exam. She ordered a diagnostic mammogram and a ultrasound. Based on these findings, a biopsy was set for the first week of November. On November 5th, I got the call that evening that I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductile Carcinoma on my left side. Malcolm and I met with the surgeon Wednesday, November 11th to discuss the plan and my options. I choose to have genetic testing and a MRI of both breasts so all information could be gathered before plan was set in place.
Just so you know, I had no indication that something was amiss and was completely shocked with the diagnosis... BUT this cancer is doable, treatable and curable! I am incredibly blessed that Dr. Kim Gallager felt the lump, the technicians located it, and it was diagnosed early. I am healthy and the surgeon, Dr. Hudson, is thorough and honest. I have the support of my zanny, loving family and all my friends that are true treasures.  I decided to journal about my journey in hopes that it helps someone out there.
This year has been like no other, but I have lots to be thankful for. I am God's girl and He's got me.  The hardest part, by far, was telling those I love and seeing the pain and worry in their eyes. Please say prayers for those that are close to me and those that worry about me. I worry most about Malcolm and the boys.
I will do my best to update you as my journey continues.  If you would like to send notes of encouragement, you can address them my way to 4165 Irish Woods Drive, Concord, NC 28025.  I LOVE snail mail! Thank you for sending prayers and good vibes our way!
