We really didn’t see this part of our journey until we were blindsided with it on September 30th, 2019. The news that cancer was again back after only 5 and a half years just didn’t seem possible at first. Especially since there was a negative biopsy on our road to diagnosis. Regardless, we are here and VERY ready to do this and get through this!
Today is a small procedure to prepare for tomorrow’s very long surgery day! I am having the surgery done in Madison at the Carbonne Cancer center/ University Hospital.
I am having a radical double mastectomy with reconstruction with a DEIP flap , which just means my own abdomen tissue ! Yep, I turn 50 and end up with a tummy tuck in the process!!!
So looking forward to getting through surgery to have the recovery begin!
I feel so blessed and positive because of the outpouring of support that has completely surrounded us since the rediagnosis on September 30th. We truly can’t express how grateful we are to absolutely everyone, you all have been beyond amazing.
Let’s do this!
Love,
Kris
