On October 15th, 2021 Kory was taken to the ER in Bellingham after her family noticed that she seemed "different" and she couldn't recall details of her most recent trip to Colorado. The results of her scan showed that she had a tumor (4 cm by 2 cm) in the front left part of her brain; Kory was informed she has brain cancer. Jerry (her youngest brother) was there to comfort and pray with her shortly after she received the news. She was taken by ambulance to Harborview the following day and had a biopsy done on Monday, October 18th. She was taken back to Bellingham on Wednesday, October 20th to rest and recover from the biopsy surgery and await the results. Kory recovered from the biopsy surgery and got a decent amount of her strength back.

The results of the biopsy confirmed Kory has Glioblastoma (GBM) an aggressive and common type of brain cancer. In an effort to act quickly and stop the spreading, she started radiation and chemotherapy early November, which lasted for three weeks. We are thankful Kory had mild symptoms and completed her last day of radiation and chemo on November 29th.

She's able to busy herself around her house, enjoy a few visits and phone calls per day, reads the newspaper, and likes to finish the evening with a Hallmark movie.  It does take her a little time to search for the right word during a conversation and she takes a few naps, but overall she is stilldoing well.
