Melodie Simmons Kisses for Melodie

One beautiful day in spring Ruth announced to Billy, then the world, there was going to be a new baby in our lives! Excitement sored!! Not long after that the news broke, not one but two children were growing in her tummy! Both Billy and Ruth's families were overjoyed!! With twice the babies came twice the doctors visits to be sure the twins were growing strong and healthy in every way. They found out the identical twins were to be girls!!

In September the ultrasound showed an abnormality with one of the girls. A week later they were to see a specialist here in Alabama. They broke so many hearts when they broke the news to Billy and Ruth that one of the girl was almost assuredly not going to make it. They recommend going to a specialist in Ohio to have an emergency procedure to allow Melodie to best chance of not passing with her sister and not having to deliver her so early.
That night the parents of our sweet girls left and drove their first trip to Cincinnati. Reaching the hospital at the crack of dawn, and immediately starting the necessary processes for the hospital. Sadly the test were to late coming back and the next night the girls went into distress. With no more options they preformed and emergency C-section.
First there was nothing... now there's an angel.... then Melodie cried out!! She was rushed off to stabilize, clean, and exam. Torn between joy and pain the parents recovered from surgery and waited for news.
Melodie was stable and in NICU! They were able to visit soon!! Even though mom had to have a wheel chair ride over they visited whenever they could!
Melodies a fighter! At 25 weeks her odds were low for the first day, after the first 3 days they grew, now at two weeks she still has plenty of obstacles and dangers to get through! We know she will fight hard and more than anything we want her mom and dad there to support her! It's so hard for them not getting to be there full time but they give it their all, and every weekend they come to here even if they can't stay long.
If your heart is willing and able we would ask for your help supporting them in there fight for more kisses for Melodie. No mother and father should have to go threw hardships of loosing a child and being separated from the other. No child should go with out the love and attention of those parents because of distance! You have our deepest thanks for your generosity and support in this hard time!
