While Clay and I were on our trip to Ecuador in February I was diagnosed with Stage 3 adenocarcinoma. It is a Signet ring cell carcinoma and very aggressive. I started chemo therapy today (Wednesday March 13) and after a couple of months I might be a candidate for HIPEC which is a very extensive surgery with hot chemotherapy placed in the abdomen for a couple of hours at the time of surgery. At this time, regular chemo treatments are scheduled for every other week for six months. Some of these timelines may change as time goes along but I will be pretty much incapacitated for several months.
I’m creating this site so that you can be updated with my progress and how I'm feeling. I'm not really good with computers but I will try my best to keep in touch through Caring Bridge and other sites. If you would like to help by preparing a meal sign up on Meal Train

Friends are setting up a Task Calendar for me, utilizing the "How to Help" feature at the top of this page. When completed you will be able to see which tasks need attending, such as helping around the farm, with household chores, or with personal care. (Please check back. Additional instructions to come.) I realize this will be a very difficult time for me because I'm usually the one to do all these things. That's why I'm reaching out to you for your help.
Clay is continuing his work as an emergency room doctor – often working 24-hour shifts. My daughter, Liarucha, is attending college at Earlham in Indiana and my 17-year-old son, Gareth, is living at home and commuting to high school in Harrogate TN.
Thank you so much in advance for all your help! I love you all and I will come out the other side of this and eventually be as strong as I've always been. Please keep all the good energy, vibes and prayers coming. I feel them all and will be hanging on to them all through the most difficult moments to come.
These sunny days like today, even though chilly, are very nice! Spring is in the air, the buds are starting to grow, the plants in the greenhouse are sprouting, grass is growing in the pastures, and spring is my favorite season, full of promise and vigor!
Hope to see you soon,
Kirsty
