Breast cancer. You have breast cancer. These are words that I never EVER thought that I would hear. It doesn't even run in my family. I was diagnosed as a stage 2 in March if this year. After I had started chemo and had my first PET scan I found out that it had already spread to my liver and I was now a stage 4. Again, words I never thought I'd hear.
After 8 rounds of chemo I am now on maintenance every 3 weeks. After a couple of CAT scans and MRIs they found spots in my L5 and S1. So I had a PET scan this past week. It did confirm that everything is still shrinking but that it was indeed in my bone marrow. I can't lift anything over 20 pounds and I have to be careful as to not break any bones.
I started Zometa (zolodronic acid) this week and I feel awful. I can't even describe the bone and joint pain as it worse than I could ever imagine. I felt nauseated and I ran a fever of 104° and had chills. That would be the flu like symptoms from the new drug. Luckily I only get it ever 4 treatments or every 3rd month. I'll update often.
To help me out there is a Go Fund me campaign:
