Welcome to Kim's CaringBridge website. She  was open to letting us share her journey on this site in order to keep family and friends informed. Thanks  for joining and sending your love and care! …

…The beginning of a long road:  On the morning of September 28th, Kim received a call with her breast biopsy results: “You have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.”  By early afternoon, she and Jeff were meeting with the breast surgeon at St. Lukes Hospital, who shared additional pathology information:  hers is a “Triple Negative” Breast Cancer which will require an aggressive treatment plan.  Within an hour of leaving that appointment, they had contacted The University of Kansas Cancer Center (the region’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center) and by day’s end had a week of appointments scheduled … with imaging, fertility planning, oncologist, radiation oncologist and breast surgeon.

And so ... the journey has begun.  Kim plans to continue working (reduced schedule).  This will be an incredibly challenging year, but Jeff and Kim are confident that they have the right medical team and treatment plan in place for a successful outcome, and are already so grateful for the outpouring of support.
