28 years ago I was diagnosed with epilepsy, a disease that will cause you to have seizures. A seizure is a general term that refers to the sudden malfunction in the brain that causes me to collapse and convulse. Over the years I have had many seizures and in 1999 I was having apprx. 40 a day, so my doctors decided to do emergency brain surgery to remove the focal point(starting place) of all my seizures. During that process they removed a tumor that I did not know about and I had a slight stroke. God is Good! He used the surgery to show the doctors a tumor that probably had been there since I was born. Since that time I have regained most of the feeling on in my left side, only my finger tips are numb and my seizure activity has greatly decreased. I only have seizures while I am sleeping, but I am still having them. I am also taking a lot of medication, which causes me to become drowsy and fall asleep.
Therefore, 13 years ago my doctor decided I should look into surgery again. Which, shocked me, I was told 21 years ago I might have to undergo surgery another time but probably not. I never thought I would be facing brain surgery a second time. After hearing that from my doctor, and  knowing that I was well over the legal age to depend on my parents to make the decision I told God that as long as doors would open I would walk through them and if the doors shut I would know that surgery was not God's will for my life. Well, it took three years and doors have opened and doors have shut.  Then a door opened and my surgery was scheduled for October 25th, 2010. This surgery consists of 2 separate operations. So, the second surgery will be on the following Friday, October 29th. The point of the surgery is to remove the focal point(starting place) of my seizures. It is the same surgery they did 21 years ago but 21 years ago! But even though both surgeries helped I still have daily seizures and take a lot of medicine.
So now in 2020, God opened another door and I walked through it! There have been a lot of dvancements in Epilepsy Surgery and this time around Dr Gonzalez, world renowned surgeon will be something called SEEG! My surgery is scheduled for July 7th! I already cut my hair short and it will be shaved for surgery!
I know that God is in control and that He has great plans for my life, just look at what has happened already. Growing up in a great Christian family, graduating from high school and later from college. Being called to be a missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship and being healthy enough to go on three missionary trips to Africa. God has done so many things in my life that I never dreamed possible and He is not done yet! Please pray for me and my family as we continue to trust God through these circumstances. Please feel free to leave me a message and Phone calls are always welcomed.
