Welcome to my CaringBridge website! I am a 34 year old mom of three; ages 8, 6, and 4. I was born with a genetic kidney disease called polycystic kidney disease and I need a kidney transplant. The purpose of this site is to keep family and friends informed, to search for a kidney donor, and to share my experience with others who may be facing similar situations. Please know that if you do not feel led to donate our relationship will not be affected. God knows who my match is and my hope is in Him to orchestrate the process. In addition, the application process is completely confidential, so I will not know who has applied unless you choose to tell me. If you do feel led to apply the link is
https://livingdonorfortworth.org/ and you will put the intended recipient as Holly Forbus. You will receive your own coordinator that will answer any questions and concerns you might have. Also, the costs for evaluations and surgery are covered by my insurance. My blood type is O+, but other types are welcome to apply and participate in a paired exchange! Why I am searching for a live kidney donor: -The wait time for a deceased organ for my blood type is 5-7 years. This means I will have to undergo several years of dialysis while raising three small kids. It would be a blessing if I could avoid dialysis and be able to focus on my family. Patients who are able to avoid dialysis have better long term transplant success than those who have been on dialysis and the average life expectancy on dialysis is 5-10 years. -Live donor kidneys work faster and last longer than deceased organs and the surgery can be scheduled at a time that is convenient for both parties, which makes it easier to find child care for the surgery and recovery period and I won't have to spend 5-7 years waiting for a call while remaining close to the hospital. Please note, donations made to caring bridge do not support my family. We are not asking for financial contributions.
