Kevin Whitley (Dad) holds a special place in all our hearts. He is one of the most relational people we've ever known - he quite literally makes friends with everyone he meets! He has always followed the Lord with dedication and strength, and taught so many others to do the same. He has an amazing sense of humor, making everyone he meets laugh and enjoy life. He's an incredible husband, father, friend, and so much more.
2 years ago, Dad was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's is a progressive dementia, in which one loses their memory, ability to communicate, and oftentimes their personality. Our hearts are broken as we watch Dad go through this, and walk together as a family in it. In the midst of it, we see God's grace and love so powerfully.
The progression of Alzheimer's is uncertain. It gets worse for everyone, and there is no cure. The timeline for each phase is unique to each person, so there's not really a "guide" to how it will go. We are taking each day one at a time, and each season one step at a time.
We are so grateful for each and every person who is a part of Dad's, and our, life. This journey would be impossible without a large "tribe" of people supporting and loving Dad through this process, which is why we've set up this website. We hope it will be a way for you to be informed of what's going on and how Dad is doing.
