Kevin's Bio: The week of September 18th Kevin went to the doctor to find out what was wrong with his liver because it was enlarged. The results came back on September 21st, he was diagnosed with liver cancer with multiple tumors in the liver. His first chemotherapy session was on October 6th. The first day was good he was taking all of his pills and was eating fine. The next day we had family come over to help cut down some trees. Kevin thought it was a good idea to help out; he raked leaves and move some wood. He found out that was too much work for his body so he mostly stay and rested in the house the rest of the day. The next day, Sunday the 8th, he was not doing so well. He was nauseous and in pain. That night he could not keep any food down and was getting dehydrated. Lois decided to take him to the ER in St. Cloud around 10:45 that night including all of the children-Grace, Rose, James and Katie. At the ER they started Kevin on IV fluids and got him some pain meds. The doctors also did multiple tests to determine what was wrong. Unfortunately nothing was elevated from the last tests they took. So they moved him to the Oncology department in a larger family room. That night more doctors came to see him and in the morning they took x-rays of Kevin's abdomen because that is where the pain was. They found out that some of his intestines are twisted. They also found that his potassium in his blood was too high so they gave Kevin so meds to lower the high potassium levels. The doctors said he could go home when he was able to keep food down and take care of himself. I will keep you all updated with the journal on new information on how Kevin is doing.
