Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated at one time. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. We started this journey in October with a routine physical when my blood tests came back irregular with low white blood cells. I was referred to a hematologist/oncologist for extensive blood work. My numbers declined. Further testing was order with a body scan and bone marrow biopsy, At this time I was diagnosed with MGUS and SMOLDERING CANCER CELLS. Meaning cancer cells were like embers. I was then ordered to do blood work every 3 months to keep an eye on them. Month 3 was May and I went in for blood work and it came back positive for multiple myeloma bone marrow cancer. Today was my second bone marrow biopsy to compare with the previous done in February. We will get the results Monday June 10th. These results will determine the strength of chemo I’ll start at the end of June and also determine if I’ll need a bone marrow transplant. We are taking the steps day by day and won’t have any more information until June 10th. I have no symptoms so far since this was caught early. I strongly encourage you all to get a physical. If I weren’t diligent about my annual examines I wouldn’t know I was positive for cancer. We will update this page as we have answers.
