Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place:

2020 was quite the year. As if the Coronavirus wasn’t disruptive enough, Mom and Dad were both diagnosed with cancer.

On June 18th, dad couldn’t catch his breath while out on a walk. He was taken to the ER and they found pleural effusion. They performed a thoracentesis and removed 2.75 liters to relieve the pressure. CT scans showed a tumor was growing in his left lung and was diagnosed with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.  His Oncologist started him on a targeted immunotherapy called Tagrisso (Osimertinib).

In mid-November, mom was complaining of bloating. After a CT scan and lab tests, she was diagnosed with Endometrial Serous Carcinoma.  About 3.5 years ago, she had a hysterectomy. At that time, her doctor thought it was localized. Unfortunately, her bloating was a sign that the cancer had returned. Coincidentally, she had a paracentesis and they remove 2.75 liters of fluid. She was started on Chemotherapy on December 9th.

As if that weren’t enough, a few months after Dad’s diagnosis, he was out driving and temporarily lost his vision. Fortunately, no one was hurt. What was thought to be a side effect of the medication, turned out to be atrial tachycardia.  Further tests showed he also has an enlarged aorta. So, now he's on a trio of heart medication to address this condition.

It's just surreal to see them both in a cancer fight. They are both rooted in their faith and are at peace with whatever the Lord has in store for them.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
