Ken Klatte, a talented double bassist, cyclist, loved friend, uncle, brother, son, and husband was diagnosed with colon cancer in December of 2012. It has been a little over three years since that time and he has fought with several chemotherapies and radiation treatments at South Carolina Oncology Associates and immunotherapy clinical trials and radiation at Duke Cancer Center. Ken was hospitalized the day after Christmas and spent New Year’s there. Currently, Ken is in hospice care at home, surrounded by friends, family, and his beloved pets. He continues to fight this awful disease by being positive and finds strength in comfort. Ken has been unable to work for some time, and his wife, an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina was unable to teach this semester while caring for him at home.
