On October 31st Dad/Grampie broke his leg “missing a step.”  Along with the broken leg he has diabetic sores that have infected his leg beyond repair.  Yesterday he was presented with two options, 1: To leave the leg and risk serious illness or even death, or 2: To amputate it and elimate number ones risks.  On December 28th 2017, Grampie/Dad made the very brave decision to have his right leg amputated right below the knee cap. This was a very hard decision to accept and to digest for him and for all of his family and friends. Everyone was very accepting of his decision and knew that if he didn’t have this procedure done than the sores made from mostly the diabetes could spread into his blood stream and could eventually kill him. On December 29th 2017, the following day after deciding that he wanted to do this, he had the surgery done at about 4:15. His son Craig, daughter Kendra, wife Kathy, son in-law Matt, grandson Kaden, and granddaughter Makena were all in with him to make him feel loved and safe. We will update more when his surgery is over and he is in the recovery room. Thank you for all of your well wishes.
