Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Back in December I noticed some lumps that were very abnormal and so finally after the holidays I was able to get in for my routine mammogram.  Since I had mentioned that I had lumps in Dec, they decided to do a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound.  There some small calcifications they found, so I was referred for a biopsy.  Let me tell you, that hurt worse than childbirth or any other pain you could imagine!  That wasn’t fun at all.  The biopsy results came back on 2.22.22 (which is weird because I used to like even numbers)…LOL.  I was diagnosed with what we later learned was stage 1, Invasaive Ductal Carcinoma.  When I reward the word Carcinoma, I had to re-read it a couple of times because I didn’t want to believe what my eyes were reading, especially since it was 8 am when I got the notification from my chart the results were ready.

I have stage 1, IDC, EP+ (estrogen & progesterone) and HER- (protein).  I found out that for a bad thing (the c word), it is the best possible outcome possible.

On May 4th (May the 4th be with you), I’m having DMX (double masectomy) and expanders put in.  I will go back weekly to have the expanders filled and then in June I will do my exchange surgery for implants.  No one wants to hear those words, especially those who have known me a long time, rhinos my second battle with cancer!  I had a thyroidectomy Sept 2011, right after Mia was born.

I want to take a moment to say thank you to my family and friends and co-worker.  Your support, encouragement, and prayers have meant the world to me.  I am grateful to have such amazing people in my life!

The next 10-12 weeks are not going to be easy, but I know I will be a pink warrior and come out the other side of this stronger because of it.  Thank you for reading about my journey and your support!!!

I would be remiss if I didn’t say one more HUGE thank you to Nick Bogdan!!!  Nick has been absolutely amazing and by my side through this entire journey, so I wanted to specially thank and recognize him for being my rock, travel companion,  second set of ears, and sounding board through all of this!!!  I couldn’t have made it through this without him!!!

Nick and Traci Braiedy have offered to make updates on my behalf, so look for updates from them.

Take care friends and I can’t wait to catch up soon!
