Hi everyone! For those of you who don't know, on January 30th, I was running an obstacle course down in Lake Geneva (one I've run for the last 5 years!) and an obstacle went terribly wrong. I had to tube down a small hill and carry my tube back up. Pretty easy, right? Well, my tube went off course and I went airborne, landed in a nearby ditch and fractured my neck in 2 places. The good news was I didn't damage my spinal cord (thank goodness) and could recover at home. Fast forward 12 weeks and unfortunately my fractures aren't healing sooooo, surgery it is. I'll be having a C1-C2 neck fusion surgery on May 12th and while I wish the outcome would be different, at least they should now be able to fix the problem and after another 12 weeks of healing and physical therapy, I should be back to normal and can start to enjoy everything I've missed doing for the last 3 months! Running, biking, driving...yay!! I invite you to follow along my journey over the next several months as I endure my 1st surgery (yikes!) and travel the road to recovery and beyond!
