Kelly started the journey months ago with a lump in the left breast: she was concerned but not able to go to the doctor due to her being between jobs with no insurance. We would talk about a plan to get her checked out and the first place she went denied her. She found out about another clinic through friends and made plans to get the lump checked. She is so strong but I could tell a little worried. They confirmed the lump and then the process began. Moving forward, she was told she had cancer in both breasts with the left being of more concern. She was referred to Dr. Winchester at St. Vincent's in Birmingham. When we met with Dr. Winchester the first time, Kelly and I loved her! She was so caring and really took the time to make Kelly feel like she was the only patient, which was important to her. Dr. Beckenstein was added to her care plan to do the plastic surgery part after Dr. Winchester finished her part which was determined to be a double mastectomy. The surgery is done and moving forward, prayers for wisdom, strength and healing are greatly appreciated!
