Kelly Lindstrom

Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

My journey started in 2017 when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver.  For 2 years, I was in and out of the hospital for multiple stays while we tried to manage my medication regiment. I was able to see my hepatologist and we got my medications to a safe dosage and we kept pushing forward.  In December of 2019, my husband divorced me and I lost my insurance.  Therefore, there were many ER visits as I couldn't afford a doctor.  After being given a year to live, I kept fighting for my children.  After 2 years of fighting with the "system", I was finally approved for Medicaid.  My attorney is also fighting for my disability case which is still pending.

On February 8th, 2022 I was finally able to visit with the transplant team at UT Southwestern.  Unfortunately, they don't accept my insurance for the actual transplant.  I am able to do my pre-transplant testing at their location.  I have now been in touch with Baylor Scott and White about performing my pre-transplant testing and my actual transplant.  I have a couple possible living donors so if I'm cleared for transplant, it will hopefully happen as soon as possible.

That is where we stand right now and sorry for the delay in posting.  You can't imagine how time consuming this all is but I will do my best to post daily going forward.  Thank you guys for all your support and well wishes.  They are very much appreciated.
