I have been diagnosed with an estrogen consuming breast cancer. This has metastasized to my sacrum and some of the vertebrae of my spine. The disease is affecting the bone marrow in these places impacting my body's ability to produce necessary blood products. This has resulted in anemia and I am very weak. There have also been structural changes that affect the nerves involved in walking so moving around is often very painful for me.
I am pursuing treatment through KU Med Center and have been very happy with their excellent care. My oncologist has me on an estrogen blocking medication to starve the cancer. In less than a week I have observed the primary tumor in my breast begin to shrink!
Because of my current condition I find myself relying on friends and family for help. Right now I need positive prayers and energy. I am on my way through a tough journey and intend to not only make it through, but to gain something good through this trial.
I need help while my husband is at work. I anticipate more fatigue when I begin radiation therapy. I am not sure if or when I will have chemotherapy but I expect there will be some surgery in the future.
I have been blessed in my life with an amazing husband, loving family, wonderful friends, and faith that God loves me. Thank you for coming alongside me at this difficult time.
