On the morning of October 31st, Kelli suffered a stroke due to a clot in her aortic arch.  She was taken to a local hospital where they administered TPA (a clot-busting medication).  She was then transferred to TriStar Centennial Hospital for more advanced care.

Upon admission, it was determined that a craniotomy (removal of a section of her skull) was indicated in order to relieve pressure from swelling.  Kelli had the surgery on Friday morning and the surgery accomplished its goal.  The original clot remains in the aortic arch and the location of the clot makes the medical picture complex and serious.

Kelli suffered a large stroke on the left side of her brain, leading to deficits on her right-side. Repeat CT scans and MRIs continue to monitor changes. There are times where she is more alert than others, and moments when we see her personality shine through.  The biggest factor in her recovery is time.   We have a long road ahead, and continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated and needed.

We will continue to update this site as we learn new information.

The financial burden of recovery is steep. As many have reached out to ask how to help we have started a You Caring Page (https://www.youcaring.com/shaygibsonandkellipowell-999596) to help to ease the financial strain for hospitalization, missed work, and rehabilitation that is ahead of us.  Please find the link for support below.

Love, prayers, and support are all welcome and appreciated.
