Welcome to Kelcey's Leukemia Journey update site. We're using it to help family  and friends follow our little girls story.

On March 2, 2018 Kelcey went to the pediatrician with leg pain. Blood work was completed and we went home. Latter that night I received a call that her blood work was abnormal and we where being admitted to Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. We packed our bags and off we went. After arriving at the hospital and multiple test our soon to be 3 year old was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

The diagnosis has been devastating and the days following, exhausting, as Kelcey underwent a surgery to have a medicine port placed, spinal tap and a bone marrow biopsy. She also had multiple blood and platelet transfusions.

Kelcey's prognosis is excellent. The bone marrow biopsy showed that 95% of the cells in her marrow are leukemia, but her spinal fluid is free and clear of any abnormal cells--which is wonderful news! Considering the factor of her spinal fluid, her age, and the type of leukemia, her chance at a full recovery is 95%.

After starting treatment, she had complications from the medicine of blood pressure being to high and heart rate to low. Multiple echocardiogram,EKG's and a kidney ultrasound cleared the heart and kidneys. Her blood pressure and heart rate have now been regulated with medication.

On Monday, March 5th, Kelcey began what will be an intense 28 days of chemotherapy, after which doctors expect her cancer will be in remission. The incredible pediatric oncology staff here at  Cleveland Clinic Children's have prescribed a program of chemotherapy for the coming months and years. Kelcey will have to get maintenance treatments for the next three years.

As you can imagine, it has been an incredibly overwhelming and stressful few weeks for our family, since this life changing diagnoses.

We will post regular journal updates of Kelcey's progress here, so please check back. And, of course, we appreciate your endless support, words of hope/prayer and encouragement. We are so blessed to have so many generous friends and family to provide food and gifts for the kids.

We have created a go fund me account to help with the medical bills. Please use the link below or the fundraising part of this site.
