Keith Sunde

My brother, Keith Sunde, has been hospitalized in Mason City Iowa for the past two weeks, battling many issues but mostly an infection that invaded his body and bloodstream.  He has had severe pain in his back making it very difficult to get good rest or to move around and walk.  This past Saturday evening he and his family were told that he would need emergency back surgery because the infection in his system had wrapped itself around his spinal cord.  We sent out numerous requests for prayer and are so grateful for our many family and friends who were with him in prayer Sunday morning, and throughout the day.  His doctors reported that his surgery was successful and went well.  He did have problems with fluid building up in his lungs fallowing surgery so he is intubated yet this morning and they are suctioning fluid that continues to accumulate.  His daughter, Kirstin, told me this morning that they are waiting for cardiology and neurology to come and tell them the plan going forward.  He will be in ICU awhile longer.  Kirstin also told me that, despite still being intubated, his blood oxygen levels are good. 


I am in Florida, so cannot give you first hand information.  By setting up this website for the family I am hopeful it will help keep all of us updated on his progress so the family can concentrate on helping Keith.  Please send him your well wishes and words of encouragement as he will have a long road to complete recovery.  My sister, Mary, visited him last night and told me he was able to squeeze her hand tightly and could definitely hear her although he appeared to be sleeping and is sedated so that the breathing tube stays in place.  Thank you again for keeping him and his family in your prayers.  Judy Berry
