Today, Keith had a swallowing test and his diet was upgraded to a semi pureed diet which is a big improvement from a thickened liquid diet. He is really hungry for meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The occupational therapist worked with his left arm which is very weak. She gave him a soft ball to keep and squeeze. The physical therapist walked him using a walker in the room and let him sit in the chair for a while. It is a miracle that he can walk. Keith will need some speech therapy. He sleeps a lot but I am told that this is normal after having such a trauma to his brain. He desperately wants to go home. It is hard to leave him. We are waiting for insurance authorization to go to inpatient rehab at Mercy.
