As you know Keith has been struggling for many years with his legs and foot. He has had 11 surgeries on his left knee and 3 on his left foot. After the last foot surgery thry found ecoli in the bone so they had to take out all of the pins and hardware keeping the bones together. Since then he has been walking on broken bones. In addition to tbe surgeries he has poor circulation, frequent cellulitis and chronic edema. He was constantly getting infections because of this surgeons refused to do any more surgeries to fix foot or do the knee replacement.  He has been in and out of the hospital all winter.  This last bout of lymphodema has had him in the hospital over a month. The decision was finally made to amputate his leg below the knee. The doctors feel this is the only way that he will get some relief and be able to have use of his leg. He had the surgery on Thursday April 27, 2017. The surgery went as well as it could. He is currently in rochester and will be moved to rehab therapy in cannon falls for about 2 months.
