Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!

It may seem a little odd, but Ms. Springer (one of Keira's former teachers at SVE) has jumped in to run the Caring Bridge site in order to keep family and friends updated while Keira's Mom and Dad (Malissa & Greg) take care of Keira.  I know it's hard to wait for news, and you want to help all at the same time.  Everyone has been wonderful, and the love shown in the past week and a half has been amazing!  Thanks!  Please feel free to comment on each post made (Malissa has complete access to this site and will most likely post too!).

(The Following Paragraph is what Ms. Springer remembers from a conversation one week ago.  In time, Malissa my make changes, as I may have details slightly off, but they're not on purpose)

Our world changed on May 23rd, as Keira had a brain tumor removed.  After months of struggling with various symptoms (all of which could be explained through less serious diagnoses) Migraines became more and more common.  Mom and Dad helped her through various migraines, without much success for relief.  On May 21, Keira fell at school and school staff jumped in and took great care of her.  At that time, they took Keira to the hospital, which led to a scan, the ultimately put them at Children's Mercy.  She had surgery May 23, and has had ups and downs since them.  It won't surprise you to know she's been a trooper and is now making progress!  Journal updates will be made to keep you as up to date as possible on her condition.  Thanks so much for visiting this site.  Please feel free to respond to journal entries so you can encourage Keira and her family as they move forward in this process.

Oh and #teamkeira is a great hashtag to use!
