Carl Walcott Keeping up with Carl

First post: Nov 24, 2020 Latest post: Jan 12, 2021
Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  Two weeks ago, Carl started experiencing some pain and discomfort in his back.  When he could not get any relief locally and per the advisement of his doctor, Misty took him to Memorial Hospital in Houston on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.  Immediately the doctors and nurses could tell the tremendous amount of  pain he was experiencing, along with the loss of his right hand and leg, something was not right.   Multiple tests were ordered and he was admitted to the hospital.   On Wednesday morning, it was determined Carl would have to undergo emergency surgery to remove an abscess on his spine.  Without going into  much detail, the abscess, located  from his neck through the ribs, was effecting his ability to move.  This was diagnosed as Epidural Abscess.  After this was removed,  results of the biopsy of the abscess revealed the infection was MRSA (a very serious staph infection).  Carl is being treated with very strong antibiotics, along with Physical and Occupational Therapy.  His awareness of where he is and what is going on comes and goes.

Carl is a business owner and relies on his physical well being to support his family and employees.  He and his family  have a very long road of recovery ahead of them.  Misty has been with Carl in Houston since he was admitted.   Many of you have asked how you can help?  We will be setting up an account to help the family meet some of their financial needs during this time.  IF you are reading this, then you know Carl and you know  he was always the first one to give to others or order the flowers for a lost loved one or classmate.

We are believing that God will bring Carl, Misty and the kids through this unfortunate illness that has attacked Carl.  The family appreciates your encouragement and asks for your continued prayers for healing for Carl and peace and understanding for Misty and the kids.
