Dear friends and family, in early August, a lightning bolt hit our family. Kay developed symptoms like Covid 19, with a cough, low grade temperature, headache and general malaise. When Covid and flu tests were negative, further tests revealed a tumor in Kay’s lung. This week we learned the tumor has spread to other parts of her body. We are awaiting a biopsy early next week (August 24 or 25) to determine the primary tissue type. At this point we have no treatment plans.
Our friend and companion of 15 years, Zoey, got sick almost at the same time. A trip to the ER showed multiple problems, so we had to say goodbye to her just as we learned about Kay’s illness.
Needless to say, it’s been a rough time for the Whitmore family. We are holding each other close and leaning on each other’s strengths as we remain hopeful and realistic. We are basking in Kay’s stories, memories, and advice. We are relishing time together. We will post updates about significant developments here and welcome your messages and memories.
