My mom is sick :-(
In late summer 2015 it became obvious to me that my mom was having a very hard time caring for herself and wasn't doing well both mentally or physically. Just before being admitted to the mental health unit at the Owatonna hospital it was confirmed that she had a large mass in her left lung. Her primary health care provider made a referral to Mayo Clinic for November 11...that appointment at Mayo began this journey. Within a week and several appointments and procedures it was confirmed that my mother had stage three non-small cell lung cancer. It was decided that she would need support to undertake the many appointments to come as both radiation and chemotherapy was the recommended treatment by both Mayo and Abbott Northwestern doctors—I decided to move her to the cities to live with us. We also decided it was best for the family that her treatment take place at Abbott Northwestern as it is 12 minutes from our home and is one of the best hospitals in the state and was highly recommended by her team at Mayo Clinic. The course of action was daily radiation along with weekly chemotherapy treatments, which started on November 23, 2015
