And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9

As friends of the McBrides, we will keep friends & family updated about Kayla Jane's progress.

Psalm 75:1 "How we thank you Lord!  Your mighty miracles give proof that you care."

As many of you know, for the last 2 years Kayla has been struggling with what was believed to be a chronic illness.  Unsure about the accuracy of this diagnosis, Brian & Kristen sought out a new doctor at St. Christopher's Hospital who routinely ordered a full body scan.  This revealed what they now know to be Kayla's true diagnosis, neuroblastoma cancer stage 4.

Brian & Kristen have chosen to stay with St. Christopher's.  They have been informed that all cancer is treated according to a protocol set down by the cancer board.  The difference lies in the environment provided by each hospital/center.  Here at St. Chris' they feel surrounded by caring and knowledgeable nurses, techs, and doctors.  Their two doctors, Dr. Halligan & Dr. Cookie, have reaffirmed their decision with their determination and limitless patience, kindness, and willingness to clearly explain things already in the short time here. Kayla has been surrounded by love.

Kayla is in high spirits.  So far, she is enjoying her fancy room ~ a bed that moves, her own desk.  She has made a new friend across the hall ~ a 16 year old who, just before losing her hair, dyed it purple.  Her new friend was told, "You have competition now, Princess."  To which she promptly replied, "No, we're best friends.  We'll share the throne!"  Kayla is blessed to have a cool teenager to guide her through each new procedure and test.

Kayla continues to glorify the Lord.  His strength in her is so apparent the doctors have already commented on it.  After a bone marrow biopsy they said they have never seen a patient handle such a difficult procedure so well.

Kayla is excited that when she defeats this cancer, she will be healthy.  With her previous diagnosis, her treatment was life-long.  She, as always, sees the bright side of things!

Brian & Kristen are grateful for all of your prayers, words of encouragement, & offers to help.  They have helped them through these last few days & will continue to see them through the times ahead.

"I feel like God is laying down a golden brick path in front of us.  We're behind Him, so we can't see where it's going, but it's OKAY because we can see who's laying it." ~ Kayla McBride 4 hours after learning she has cancer
