In the early morning hours of 1/1/2019 Kayla was in a vechile with friends heading home when a car traveling the opposite direction collided with the vechile head on. Kayla was in the front seat and had been wearing her seatbelt.

While waiting for help to arrive, Kayla moved to help others in the car get out and assist in their aid.

Upon arriving at the hospital in Britt she is said have asked the staff if they needed to see her insurance information (haha!) and was able to recall both her parents phone numbers with ease. She also is said to have never lost consciousness at any time aka she is a TOUGH LIL SNOT. She was air lifted from Brit to Rochester hospital where she has undergone her first surgery as of 1/1. Her spleen was removed as well as a part of damaged pancreas. There is also damage to her liver but doctors are optimistic that will heal on its own.

Kayla does have injuries to her neck, left arm, and ankle while currently on a ventilator.

Her all over color is great and she is responsive as far as wiggling fingers and some eye movement when engaged.

She will have surgery tomorrow on her neck but time is still TBD (as of 7:28pm 1/1).

Updates will be posted here as they are available. In order to help the family limit the flood of inquiry to their phones it is encouraged to check back here for updates.

Thank you all!
