On Thursday, July 28th, Katie went to the doctors office for what she thought was a pulled muscle in her chest and cough she thought was pneumonia because she could hear some fluid in her lungs. The doctor noticed that the right side of her chest was raised higher than the left and decided to do an x-ray. While Katie was waiting in her room, the doctor poked her head in to say she wanted radiology to look at it then says that they were concerned with how enlarged her lung is, how’s it’s filled with fluid and couldn’t rule out a large mass. A few hours later they send Katie to the ER to get scanned where she was told it was a tumor and that they were needed to send her to ‘a big city.’ Katie was sent to Vanderbilt in an ambulance where they did more scans and poked and prodded her for a few days. She was sent home the following Monday with no preliminary finding of the biopsy and received the call on Tuesday that her biopsy came back. It wasn’t what we wanted, but it’s what Katie expected. She has been diagnosed with primary mediastinal large b-cell lymphoma and has a consultation set up already later this month. Thank you to everyone who has already been praying or sending good/positive vibes Katie’s way. Keep them coming.
