Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. This is Katie's story.  Katie Kaspari from Fargo North Dakota is facing the health challenge of her life.  In August of this year she was diagnosed with a brain bleed possibly as a complication of liver disease.  At that time the prognosis seemed positive with some diet and life style changes. Kate was doing well until Nov 1 when she was hospitalized for numerous infections including sepsis.  After a two week hospitalization she went home and was referred to the U of M transplant Center for an evaluation for a liver transplant.  Katie underwent the first part of the evaluation in mid December.  After returning home she was weak but was managing.  On January 6th, she was hospitalized with a hemoglobin level of 3.6.  Katie received blood transfusions and platelets.  On January 11 she was transferred back to the U of M for more transplant work.  She is now home, feeling good and is waiting to be put on the liver transplant list and build up her strength.  She is currently not able to go back to work but is building strength.  She currently is being closely monitored by the U of M with weekly blood monitoring and weekly fluid taps.  All prayers are appreciated.
