Family and friends - as you have heard Katie has been diagnosed with a very aggressive stomach cancer recently, The good news is that all evidence suggests that her cancer is localized and has not spread, therefore she can be cured with surgery. Since this cancer is very aggressive, she could not wait until the baby was born in January to begin chemotherapy. She began chemo mid October and will continued to receive chemo every 3rd week until the beginning of January in preparation for delivery. Needless to say this has dramatically impacted Katie's, Mike's, and her young children's lives. Fortunately they have received much family support, and Mike has done great job of taking care of the kids and Katie. Happily a healthy Daniel was born on January 16th (4 pounds 13 oz, & 18"). The whole family has had time together at home before Katie's planned surgical removal of her stomach on February 20th. It's a long journey ahead and Katie & Mike appreciate all your love, encouragement and support!
