Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. My mom Kathy was taken to Methodist hospital on 2/13/21. She was celebrating Kelly’s birthday with family at a restaurant and started chocking. We didn’t know if it was due to an allergic reaction to mushrooms or if it was food. caught in her throat. We tried to inject an epipen but I accidentally injected myself. She started turning blue we tried the Heimlich maneuver until police arrived. We told them we didn’t know if she has food stuck or if her throat closed due to allergic reaction. They took her to hospital and on the way she stopped breathing they did CPR and shocked her to have her heart start again. She was deprived of oxygen for 25 minutes. At the hospital they removed the food from her throat. So it wasn’t an allergic reaction. They put her on a ventilator and she was not responsive. Her oxygen levels even with ventilator were not good. In the ICU they found more food in her left lung and after removing the food her levels improved. Late that night they did a brain scan, Good news it didn’t showing major damage. But they did warn us that due to the treatment of cooling her body for 24 hours they said it might not show any damage yet. They are continuing to monitor and keep her cool until later tonight. They will start warming her up and do a brain scan Monday. My mom is a fighter and I know she can beat this. A ton of prayers are needed as we need a miracle.🙏🏻
