Kathy Nolle Kathy’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated about Kathy’s health and overall well-being. This is also a great place for friends and family members to support Kathy and each other
This is Jeanne Nolle. I am blessed to have joined Kathy’s wonderful family by marrying her oldest son John. To all of you who know and love Kathy, I will start with a little background of Kathy’s health journey to help put her current path in perspective.

Several years ago Kathy was diagnosed with kidney disease. As a chronic disease, it was just a matter of time before Kathy needed to go on dialysis. In October of 2018, Kathy’s kidneys got bad enough that she urgently needed to start dialysis treatment. Unfortunately, the night before her port was scheduled to be put in, Kathy suffered a heart attack. That was on October 2nd, 2018. In the days following Kathy had surgery to put in her dialysis port, a pacemaker and a defibrillator. On Oct 17th and 19th, Kathy battled like a champion to come back from two episodes when her heart stopped during dialysis treatment. Thank God she came back to us and worked hard to recover and regain her strength. On Jan. 19, 2019, Kathy started doing Peritoneal dialysis at home every night. She became a medical expert in no time.

From January to October, Kathy had some ups and downs but was doing very well overall. She had one chronic issue with her dialysis that finally prompted a CT scan of her abdomen to try to find the source of the problem. The scan was on Oct. 30th and the results found a problem we were not prepared to learn about. The radiologist suspected cancer of the pancreas and liver. They ordered a biopsy of the liver and referred Kathy to Green Bay Oncology.
On Nov. 7th, the biopsy was done and on Nov 12th, we received the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer.
Kathy’s current medical plan is to receive chemotherapy treatment to slow down the progression of the cancer and to keep her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. We hope and pray for a miracle but the prognosis is in the range of months.
Kathy and the family are going through a rollercoaster of emotions as we try to come to terms with the news.

We ask for your love, support and lots of prayers. I will update this website with how Kathy is feeling going forward. Currently, phone calls are difficult with the fatigue Kathy is experiencing. If some of you have left messages and Kathy hasn’t called back, it’s not personal. 😍 Messages are great so Kathy can check them when she feels up to it.
As a family, we are helping Kathy to live her BEST LIFE! We have been having weekly family meals on Sundays. We are helping her take advantage of all resources available to help her. Kathy is determined to do everything she can to gain strength and fight through the chemo side effects and cancer symptoms that she faces.
Thank you in advance for your love and support for Kathy and all of us.
