During the month of May I was having dull pain on my left side. On May 26th it got worse and the next day I decided to I go to Urgent Care and get it checked out thinking maybe I had hurt my rib. It was a Friday at 4pm but the doctor sent me to the hospital for a CT scan. She didn't think it was my ribs because they didn't hurt when she pushed on them. At the hospital I got some push back saying they didn't do same day appointments but I sort of begged and they did do it.

The CT results came back and showed a lesion on my spleen so I was referred to a Hematologist. He sent me for a PET/CT since there had been other suspicious things happening over the last couple years with my shoulder bone. The results of the PET/CT were shocking for us. We thought the spleen could possibly light up for possible cancer but we didn't expect to see my left rib, right clavicle, T9 vertebra, and several others in my pelvis also light up. Needless to say we are scared.

I had a biopsy on June 30th but instead of doing my rib bone they did the intercostal space below the rib which came back benign. After nearly a month of being frustrated with my care I just switched doctors on Friday (7/22/22).  I had already been seeing this Dr. at Huntsman Cancer Institute for the last two years for a growth in my shoulder. I now feel so relieved to have a doctor that knows me and has the ability to get things done quickly. He has already scheduled a new biopsy of the rib bone.

Sadly I have not feeling well for the last several weeks. I am weak and shaky in my upper body. I'm so tired and not able to do much and I have pain in my rib and back. This is a hard place for me to be and so unlike me.

Since we don't have a diagnosis yet but would love the support of our family and friends during this difficult time we will put all the updates here.

Thank you so much for your love and prayers.
Much love, Kathy and Wayne
