Welcome to Kathye’s  CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayer support, words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting this site.  Here is Kathye’s shortened version of her current situation:

"In 1996 I had “head and neck” cancer (squamiscel carcinoma)  which required extensive radiation therapy.  I received the
highest amount of radiation possible to the jaw area.  Long term effects of the radiation have surfaced, as originally predicted by my oncologist. My jaw bone is now compromised due to no blood flow these past 20 years. The right side of the jaw has fractured three times and surgery is now the only solution.

On August 29, 2016 I will undergo surgery to remove and reconstruct the right jaw bone. It’s possible the left side is also irretrievably compromised but the extent of that is unknown until the actual surgery.  Complications from radiation (unhealthy tissue, muscle, veins/arteries) and the expected 12 hour surgery, will require a significant period of time to heal, but until surgery, the extent is unknown.”

Please pray for the team of surgeons and staff: for wisdom in her care; that they are rested and don’t miss any necessary detail. Pray that Kathye has no complications or infections and that the surgery is successful.
