First, if you are in the group i truly appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and concerns regarding my mom over the last few days. Secondly, I truly apologize if I haven’t spoken to each of you individually. As you can imagine this past week has been a whirlwind for us all and a lot for me to take in and process so doing the best I can. I do want you all to be in the loop and know what is going on as I know you all care deeply and I felt that this group was the best way to quickly and efficiently communicate with you all. As many of you have already heard, Kathy is sick and we have been asking for prayers. For those of you that don’t know, mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the breast. This isn’t your normal breast or skin cancer. It’s actually a VERY rare cancer that only occurs in 0.1% of people, unfortunately mom is in that small percentage. This cancer is extremely aggressive and spreads quickly. Due to it being so rare, there isn’t great information about how to treat it and we are looking at a big battle ahead. Kathy is her typical self and still in great spirits and is ready to go to war. Other than some swelling in her legs and some difficulty breathing, she really seems to be doing great! She has been resting quite a bit, especially with all the pain medicines on board. They were able to start chemo yesterday and the immediate impact has already evident. She's gained some of her old energy back! I truly believe that the power of prayer works and that God is in the business of making miracles happen. We ask for good vibes and prayers in the days, weeks, and months to come! Thanks to each and every one of you for your support, it does not go unnoticed. Although we would love to talk to each and everyone of you individually, our focus is to care and love on mom at this time and try and get her home and comfortable soon. I will update you all more via this group as I know more but in the mean time please keep the prayers coming!
