Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most. Our mom was recently diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer with liver involvement. She had surgery on Thursday April 14th to remove the tumors and explore whether or not there were any additional tumors that were not picked up on her scans. We got great news! They were able to remove both the liver and colon tumors and did not see any additional involvement. About 6 weeks post-op, she will receive chemotherapy via a port infusion for a two-day duration every two weeks for a total of 6 months. A port is a small disc made of plastic or metal about the size of a quarter that sits just under the skin. A catheter connects the port to a large vein and the chemotherapy medicines are given through a needle that fits right into the port. She will have her next body imaging scan at the conclusion of her chemotherapy round. We thank you for all of your support, prayers and well wishes. Click on the journal tab for daily updates.
