Kathy has been diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) and it has spread to her lungs. The initial diagnosis was made after a hospitalization on Mother's Day , May 14th, and the additional diagnosis of lung involvement was made on June 13th. Kathy is currently undergoing treatment with an immunotherapy drug called Opdivo (Nivolumab) It is given as an infusion every two weeks and works by recruiting Kathy's immune system to fight the cancer. Kathy is being an amazing patient, full of Hope and Faith, and has maintained her optimistic, positive attitude throughout.
