This is Denise Brewerton writing Kathryn's story.  Kathryn has  congestive heart  failure and is in the end stages of heart disease.  She is currently staying with me at our house located at 10012 Glen View Ave, Baton Rouge, LA  70809.  My phone number is 225-964-2420.

Kathryn has always been very private about her medical issues - not because it's a secret, but because she didn't want to bother others with her crosses in life.  She also didn't want anyone to have to take care of her because everyone is so busy and has their own issues.  Those of you who know her know she was too busy caring for others and didn't want a fuss over her.  But of course, if she was winning a dance contest, that was a different story.  Mom has been in the hospital 3 times since 03-18-2019, the last one for 13 days.  She was discharged 04-16-2019 and has been at our house ever since and will remain here for the duration.

Most of you know by now that Kathryn is now in Notre Dame Hospice, which is administered at our house.  And these people have already been wonderful.

As I've told most of you (and you already knew), Mom is really a "people person" and has always had a revolving open door policy at her house.   She has repeatedly stated she wants anyone to visit if they so choose.  She has really enjoyed the many people who have already visited, called, and sent love, kisses, hugs and prayers.  I state this and my address above because I too have an open door policy and mine has become just as revolving as hers has always been.  All I ask is that you call, or preferably text and let me know when you are coming.  This has worked out really well so far and she has had time to rest in between the visits.

Mom is not yet in the final stages and the visits and love everyone has poured on her has really made her feel special.  Madame Queen has really enjoyed holding court in our den.  It is also unbelievable how many people have been touched by Mom's genuine caring, out-going, loving personality.

I also want everyone to know that Mom is very much at peace and is not in any pain.  Her amazing faith is such an inspiration to me and many others.  She has told me many times that she has had a full life, and has done everything she wanted to do and now everything is up to the Good Lord.  She is very serene and at peace with the Lord and whatever is still in store for her.

I started this site because so many people are following Mom and I want everyone to have access to as much information as possible and I'm not on facebook and don't want to initiate a group text - it would be way to difficult and disruptive.  I'm writing this Sunday, 04-28-2019, at about 10:15.  I also wanted a way to let everyone know Mom had  a great day today and even ate a ham sandwich and kept it down.  This is quite an accomplishment since she hasn't had any real food in about 4-5 days - so we're all dancing tonight.

I will post as often as I can.  But everyone is free to call or text me - just understand I may not be able to answer the phone at the moment you call.  I will respond to all texts when I am able.  Thanks to everyone for being so involved and for loving my wonderful Mom!
